UNISON YOGA
UNISON YOGA
From her very first yoga class in 1999, Unison Yoga owner Tracy Loffler felt “at home” practicing yoga. Already a BCRPA certified Group Fitness Leader, Tracy instantly knew that she would someday teach this ancient practice.
In late 2001, Tracy took her first yoga teacher training course with Julia Shields, of Freespirit Yoga and Pilates in Maple Ridge, BC. In early 2002, while six months pregnant with her first child, she took Pregnancy Yoga teacher training with Janice Clarfield of Urban Yoga in Vancouver, BC. Over the years, Tracy took additional workshops and continued with self-study. In March of 2005, she completed a Yoga Alliance Registered Teacher Training with Hogan Poon and Georgina Varveris of Open Door Yoga in Vancouver, BC.
In January 2003, Tracy opened The Yoga for You Studio, a home-based studio in Mission, BC. Starting with a couple of classes per week, the studio grew to offer 10 classes per week, plus other workshops, and book clubs. This small, private, serene studio provided a welcoming atmosphere for the residents of Mission and surrounding areas for over 5 years.
As the yoga practice expanded, the studio changed its name and location. The Yoga for You Studio is now Unison Yoga; a more accurate reflection of our philosophy and vision. Unison implies harmony, balance and connection: all of the things we aspire to in our yoga practice and in our lives. We want to live in harmony and balance; we want to live in Unison – connecting all that surrounds us with all that is within us. It is the connection of body and breath, moving in unison, that is the essence of yoga.
Unison Yoga moved to its first retail location in September 2008, and in April 2010 the retail doors of Unison Yoga closed. As of September 2010, Unison Yoga has “come home” and is once more a home studio.
Intention
Yoga is many things to many people and we hope that through our classes you will be able to learn more about your body, your breath and your spirit. It is only when we take the time to move into stillness that we can become aware of our own truths and experiences. Whether you come to yoga to relieve stress, expand your spirituality or have a healthy body, it is my intention to share with you my love of yoga and support you in your own unique yoga journey.
